A Cleaner Olentangy

Significant as it is, removing the Fifth Avenue Dam is only one part of a broader vision for improving the Olentangy.   Columbus’ Project Clean Rivers utilizes a variety of strategies to clean up our city’s steams and rivers, and The Wet Weather Management Plan calls for large scale capital improvements to reduce bacterial contamination of our streams by addressing combined sewer overflows (CSOs) and sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs).

Residents also have an important role to play in keeping our streams clean, by taking simple steps in our own homes and yards and by advocating for increased use of green infrastructure, which will benefit our communities for years to come.
